Residents of Royal Leamington Spa encounter exotic species for World Animal Day

FURRY FRIENDS: The resident and staff loved meeting the mini creatures

A care home in Royal Leamington Spa has set up its own petting zoo to help residents celebrate World Animal Day on Tuesday October 4.

The staff and residents of Cubbington Mill care home in Barchester had a great time meeting all the different animals to celebrate this special day. World Animal Day was launched in 1931 to highlight the plight of endangered species and is celebrated by animal lovers around the world.

Residents and staff got into the mood for the day by getting up close and personal with a wide array of mini-creatures, including cheeky chinchillas and bearded dragons in the sun, courtesy of Animal Mania.

Chief Executive Laura Russell said: “Our residents and staff love the chance to interact with the animals, so spending a day with them was something very special. We had a great day meeting new friends. furry, and the strange scaly too. It was fantastic.

A resident of Cubbington Mill said: “It was a fun day. I never thought I would hold a lizard, they are so very friendly and very warm.”
