Kate Walsh Teases Return to Grey’s Anatomy and Dons Dr. Addison Montgomery’s White Coat…Eight Years After Private Practice Ended

Kate Walsh once again showed herself ready for the operation and teased her return in season 18 of Grey’s Anatomy.

The 54-year-old actress donned her white coat to play Dr. Addison Montgomery, if only for a moment, as she strolled down a hallway in a short video shared to Twitter on Wednesday morning.

Walsh previously confirmed she would return to the medical drama nearly eight years after her spin-off show, Private Practice, aired its last episode in 2013.

Walsh rocked a beige collared dress with ribbed details and a high slit as she strolled down a hallway.

Her light auburn hair was freshly blown out and worn parted to the side, and she kept her makeup to a minimum.

Most noticeable, however, was her white doctor’s coat and the bright pink stethoscope wrapped around her neck.

Although the first two seasons of Private Practice featured significant Grey’s Anatomy crossover episodes and guest appearances, the ties between the shows dried up in later seasons.

When it was confirmed that Walsh would return for season 18 in September, she wrote on Instagram that she was “so thrilled to be home again” with Shonda Rhimes, Ellen Pompeo and “the rest of the amazing cast”.

During a panel in October, Walsh told PEOPLE and other reporters that the Grays’ reunion was “intense” and “very emotional.”

“All the feelings,” she said. ‘It was really beautiful. We gathered at the COVID testing tent and hugged each other with our masks on, then went to act with our masks on.

She added: “It was just very emotional. Like going back to your hometown and your family and your first best job at the same time. It was a lot, it was great.
