Does anyone know what animal this is?

Yesterday we were about to leave on a pontoon that we had rented from Collins Marine in Tonawanda when we saw this. My grandmother was walking down the platform and she wasn’t so happy that this little guy was walking around her everywhere.

This little brown furry rodent was walking on the quay. We asked other people who have boat docks and are in the area regularly if they knew what type of animal it was, but no one had a clue. Honestly, it looks like a ferret out of something, but I knew it wasn’t. When we put it on social media, we got all kinds of suggestions on what it was. Some of the suggestions were an otter (do we even have otters in the Buffalo area?), A mink, and a little fishing cat. We ended up letting him do it and just let him out of the dock, which was probably at least 100 yards from any sort of real earth.

Update: It looks like most of the votes were for the Fish Cat. if you don’t know what a fisher cat is, it is part of the weasel family and more commonly known as a fisherman. A fisherman is closely related to a marten, but the fisherman is bigger. After doing some research, they don’t really eat as much fish as squirrels, rabbits, mice, and voles.
